ADware - limewire

i'm not too familiar with ad ware (i presume you mean remover)
but it treats limewire as an unwanted advertising program and so removes it.
check in the options for adware and see if you can get it to ignore LIMEWIRE.
if not... then you will have to do without adware remover. or find a different one on the net.
personally i've never received any adware anyway.
i would stop using the adware unless there is a specific problem advert you are trying to get rid of.

sammeygirl April 7th, 2006 11:46 AM

sorry ad-aware is a computer spam scanner

robotleader April 7th, 2006 02:16 PM

limewire deleted

ad-ware shouldn't make any difference to lime wire then if its just for spam ...hmmm
what antivirus programs do you have? make sure that LIMEWIRE is set as an "exception" otherwise it might treat limewire as a DANGEROUS program

but if i find any clues i'll post again

I use Zone Alarm but i have checked it and it is not block or deleting limewire

My guess is ZoneAlarm suite now includes another spyremover program. Perhaps PestPatrol. I remember reading one of the major AV companies was going to include it in their package but can't remember which one. Stick with ad-ware & Spybot - Search & Destroy, don't use pestpatrol as pestpatrol is not configured to be p2p friendly. Either that, or make sure LW is on the safe list. If you downlded LW from the official site then it won't have spyware or adware.

PestPatrol & some other spyremover programs will remove components of LW so it doesn't work.

Yea but i have limewire on two other computers and zonealarm is on them and on the other two computers it does not delete from them.

Lord of the Rings April 9th, 2006 05:07 AM

Same version zonealarm with identical installation? Check the programs that have been run on the computer that does have problems. I've never heard of Ad-ware deleting LW before. I don't suppose you have Yahoo security or one of those packages.

Well I don't know why your other computers are not affected but PestPatrol is your problem. Either put LW on its safe-list or uninstall it. It's a good program, but just is not p2p friendly.

Yea well what u do on zonealarm u sent programs as trusted and it is on trusted and nuthin is blocking it or anything it just keeps deleting thanks for your help by the way..........

Lord of the Rings April 9th, 2006 08:06 AM

Well PestPatrol is well known for this problem. If you don't know how to control it then you'll continue having the same problems. RTFM :D

ok thanks a well do a few tests and see what happends..........

I am having the same problem; now, I have Ad ware, but I never use or keep it monitoring. I have security software (anti virus, fruad protection, firewall, anti spyware, ect) from Sympatico, but Limewire has access to the internet..
Thats all I have.
And it wont stop un installing.

Lord of the Rings August 6th, 2006 06:56 PM

Well one of those security programs is obviously removing LW because it isn't trained to understand P2P tech. So you need to find the exceptions list in each program & add LW to the list. It's easier if you do it to all than go thru a long process of finding exactly which one it is that doesn't recognise LW as not having spyware or adware, etc.
