"status -- downloading from ___ hosts" help
 

When i first got limewire I was able to download from 8 host max, I tried figuring out how to increase that but I gave up because it was downloading at sufficient speeds but now suddenly I can get no more than 4. Is there a way to change this?

Basic LW lets you connect to 8 hosts. If you're only getting 4 hosts, it probably means that only 4 hosts have free upload slots for you to use. As other hosts complete uploads, more slots can become available & then you'll see your number of hosts increase:)

normally I would agree but it just seem strange that 8 completely seperate downloads are all at 4 and have been at 4 for a long time even though the number of hosts are over a 100, and I have limewire pro. Other then the past two days, this has never been a problem.

P.S. In the event, I have a roommate who in notorious for messing up my computer by changing settings I have, he might have done something and I don't know what. I asked him but he doesn't really know anything about computers and just replied, umm ... I don't know (I have banished him from this one unless supervised, but he goes on it when I'm at work.)

Well you can't really change your settings so that you'd only download from 4 hosts... strange. Try doing a completely new search for one of the files, use the All Types search. See how many you can download from this way. If you think your roomie might have messed with your options, just go right through tools > options & check everything. Or delete your preferences folder (it might be worth doing this anyway) when your downloads have finished... LW has to be completely closed. Instructions here
