I really need help!!! Error message!??? Someone please help me! I have been using limewire for about a month now and I was trying to download about 5 songs last night and an error came up on the screen and I have never saw it before it said: Lime wire is unable to connect to the hosts on the gnutella network.this is most often due to fire walls or content filtering software blocking acess to gnutella (port ****) please review your firewall options to allow lime wire to acess to the gnutella network or speak to your system adminstrator or ISP to determine if gnutella traffic is being filtered. All this time I have been downloading from the gnutella network and last night that message appeard and tonight it wont let me download the songs that I want!!! |
I have read some of your previous post. Normally when LimeWire quits connecting suddenly it is your ISP has started blocking or filtering. But I doubt it in your case I have never heard of dial-up doing it. I notice you have 5 files trying to start when limewire opens. This is not a good practice with dial-up it can cause the problem you are having. Close all but 1 of your downloads then see if LimeWire will connect. Also only download 1 file at a time if you have more than 1 on dial-up it will can cause you to loose connection. Limit your uploads to 1KB/s that is about all you have to spare. |
I am sharing 350 files! How do I get that to stop cause it is slowing me down!!! |
The number of filesyou are sharing does not slow you down. What is slowing you down is the number of files your are trying to download at one time. |
Sometimes I only try to download 3 or fewer files and it still does the same thing like right now I am only downloading 1 song and I have been waiting in it to load and it has took 3 hours and it is only at 1% now what??? |
What is the speed of your connection is it 56k, 33k If it is 56k you have to divide it by 8 to get your maximum download speed. 56/8=7Kb/s max less overhead the most you can get is 6 sorry but that is the limit of your connection. There is nothing you can do about it. If you are DL a 3000kb file it will take about 10 to 15 minutes. 33/8=4.1 max less overhead about 3 about 20 min to dl a 3000kb file You can try the .LimeWire fix at the link below. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 |
my connection is 26.4 and it use to let me load like 5 songs with no problem and now that i am sharing i have problems!!! |
In most cases I would not advise a person not to share. But 26.4k connection is pretty slow 26.4/8=3.3 less overhead the best you can do is maybe 2.5Kb/s if you are not sharing. That means a 3000kb file will take you at a minimum 25 min if you are not sharing. I would advise not to share when you are downloading. But when you are finished downloading leave LimeWire on and share. |
sharing how do I stop sharing and then start sharing again? I am kinda new at this so thanks for your patience!!!:o |
