i type in search and a list of songs appear i try click to download them and no song downloads
the download section doesnt even appear

First thing to try:
Delete your .limewire preference folder when LW is complete closed (means, also in the system tray): Tips on how to do this, see point 2&3 in the thread of LOTR:

If that doesn't solve your problem, try to uninstall LW and all the Java versions on your computer. Then download the JRE offline installer of Java. Install is and then reinstall LW.:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

Then get back here and post your results.
