Default Lost!!

Ok, you guys have lost me and this is what I was scared of....I don't have a real grasp of what I can do ( as u can prob tell!!)
If Tiscali are the prob, does that mean I have to change?? So there's nothing I can do in the meantime for LW??
This seems stress as I'm not the only one who uses it @ home and not everyone will want to change all cos I can't download!!

Very interested re tiscali, had run ins myself with them, upgraded then got problems, rang ''Tech support'' asked if they were messing with the protocols, thus affecting P2P, yes is the answer, despite advertising ''Unlimited Downloads''
they put ALL ''Heavy Users'' into the same pipe or channel, vying for what bwidth is there, also penalised if you are in this ''Pipe'' cos u can only dload at normal speeds between 11.00pm at night until 4.00am approx sometimes less
this is an ''Automatic'' process triggered if u dload 1 gig per day, to get out again takes two weeks(Not using lwire) also a problem is gaming, they say it uses up too much bandwidth(too much information) if u are doing both ure ******
Problem is in my area not any alternatives apart from BT, as u say they know this and make u PAY and PAY. this is a major problem if you have a family, ie 2/3/4/ computers all doing their own thing !!
IS THERE ANY ANSWER TO THIS apart from paying A LOT OF MONEY !!

Chow-chow,

I have the same problem as you, I have been without tiscali broadband for a few weeks while ive moved house, when the reconnected it I can now no longer connect to limewire, there is now a brick wall in front of the globe and it won't connect at all.

I know its not my router or computer as I have turned both firewalls off and run a few tests on the internet to access my computer and they say there is no firewall on.

IF i log into my neighbours broadband signal via wireless I can connect to limewire straight away!!

So there is definitely something fishy going on with Tiscali!

Regards,

Dan

sam problem, but not with limewire. am using bearflix and tried shareaza - bearflix worked fine last night, but today it doesnt. as it connects to gnutella im assuming its the sameproblem. talking to shareaza tech bods revealed it might be tiscali which has led me to this forum.

so has anyone had any news from tiscali... or have we all been oppressed?

I am with Tiscali and have had no problems at all (until today but I think that's something else).

Just don't download between 6pm-11pm and they don't care what you do outside of those hours.

Hi cmcb.

Try using FrostWire, I don't think that P2P app is on there list, also when you are setting it up, before it connects change the ports to a number between
50000 to 65000, Dont let it use default ports.
Like norbie said, avoid 6pm to 11pm for large file D/Ls & you may just stay off
their radar.
Peace.

Hello there.
I'm having the same problem with Tiscali in the UK. It will let me download sometimes then not at all, tells me I'm not connected when I am and that I'm behind a firewall which I've disabled. My mate's ISP is also Tiscali and he has no problems at all.......most annoying espcially when you pay good money for a anytime, no restriction ISP then it tells you what you can and can't do!!
Your irately,
Lesley.

Irrespective of the no. of hosts to download from where I would get anything up to 110kb download speed it is now down to 1-5KB and continually stops for very long pauses before re continuing at an even slower pace.

After reading lots of info/help on this forum (nothing I tried made any difference) I came acrross the isp's that limit p2p downloads and to my shock saw Tiscali mentioned. As I use them (UK) and could find no other reason I posted on the Tiscali UK Forum site and apparently they have been blocking/limiting ALL p2p downloads from 8am to 1pm,irrespective of your bandwidth use (I have the problem with Limewire 24hrs) Tiscali is said to be making an official announcment on the matter in the next week.

If there is anyone using Limewire OK with UKonline ? If yes I would be gratefull if you would say if they are ok or not as Tiscali can go to HELL.

I did try downloads speeds from 'Magnet mix' as suggeseted here many times and the most I could get was 15kb,,mainly though it was about 5kb and continually stopping.

My broadband speed is 1mb on an ADSL modem

Kind regards
Andy
I say give up on Tiscali I have been with them for a while I had a small connection problem and they didn't fix it for 6 months! They are only refunding me 2 months. Their after sales service is non existant do as I do and switch.

Kind regards
