I need help downloading files

I've had limewire for about a year and 1/2 ever since i've had dial-up but I recently upgraded to about 400mbps broadband and ever since then the files that I click to download normally have 0kbps next to the file being downloaded and even though I have a number of good hosts for the files i'm downloading it never seems to pick up and during that time i am not even browsing the internet or doing anything to lag my download. sometimes the file will download partially but will time out say things like : need more sources/ waiting in line etc. I looked that limewires site for help hints and I allowed people to access my gnutella network in my firewall settings. I am running windows xp and have a firewall. I would apprieciate it if someone would help me with this problem because this problem has occured on other p2p clients and i would like to continue my filesharing i have the free version of limewire 4.10.9

Hello...
Do you have a brickwall in front of the globe in LW....
Who is your ISP....;)

birdy June 1st, 2006 04:44 PM

What are your details (excuse the repeat info!!)

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Can you download a file from here & what speed do you get?

What's your connection status? Fully connected? If you have a poor or no connection, read through this
Connection problems? Check here first!

What about your connection status... how many green bars?

Do this test & see what result you get
http://www3.limewire.com:6346

Do you use a modem or any other connection device between your computer & antenna? If so can you tell us the brand & model?

Have you made sure that your software firewall's still configured properly?
Firewall setup

There's some info here about sattelite probs

I could use a little help as well. I have been using lime wire for about a year or so and everything has been perfect. i have a excelent rating and share over 2000 files... two days ago i was downloading and uploading no problem as always.. out of the blue starting last night and now tonight all i get is "connection" and then "more sorces needed" no matter how many hosts that file has or what file i try.. they are all the same responce. NOTHING has changed on my computer in the last few days.. software or hardware... HELP?

wondering why June 1st, 2006 05:28 PM

StormWPB, there fake files there has been an influx of them lately, try to download from a lower number of hosts or give it a day or two and you should be able to get it then...;)

i dont have a router because this computer is the only one in the house with broadband but i have this *dynex brank pci adapter that says: 10/100mpps fast ethernet

i normally have 1-3 green bars mostly just 1 but that is the reason i tryed opening my gnutella network in network connections

that test did work

Is XP the only firewall you have? If yes, recheck your settings. If you have another firewall then decide between either XP or the other firewall as it's not advisable to run 2 firewalls simultaneously. Most firewall companies give the same advice.

You could try changing the listening port for LW to one between 49152 - 65535
Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall to make the change to the listening port.

Hmmm... have a read of this. It suggests to me that Avolve are using trafffic shaping technology & this may well be why your downloads are so, so slow.

As for your adapter, I don't have a clue:o but I don't think it would be causing a firewall problem?? Somebody else may know! As long as your XP firewall's configured correctly & you aren't using any other connection devices (high speed modems & routers often have an internal firewall)... I really don't know where your firewall would be coming from. Did you get any firewall protection from your ISP when you upgraded from dial up?? Just double check that you don't have a second firewall!

You could try changing ports, there are instructions within the satellite thread I gave you earlier.

Damn... beaten again.
