Download Speed at only 1kb/s on limewirePRO and 8mb connection!!! Help!
 
Hi, i have an 8mb internet connection, and Limewire PRO but my download speed is only at 1kb/s and always stays like this. I have tried downloading other files, I have made sure there are lots of sources, I havent got any uploads as i have only just installed it so have no files to share. There seems to be nothing out of the odinary on my computer. I am running no other programmes etc. Please help, Thanks Chris :confused: :confused:

Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type
Where you connect from
Are you sharing a connection with other computers

Also is there a wall in front of the Globe in Limewire....

Details...

OS - Windows XP
Java Version
Firewall - Norton
Modem - High speed broadband modem
ISP - BT
Connection Type - 8Mb Broadband connection
Not sharing connection with any other connection
No wall in front of Globe.

I take it u mean: internet services provider cos i mean BT internet as in BT the phone company. :)

Oh, wow, that was a bit unexpected. ok well i think that clear it up as I have tried everything else. I am off to send an email to bt and if this is the case will be followed up by a complaint email! Thanks for pointin it out to me.

Thats Cool.....The list of ISPs doing this is getting bigger and bigger by the minute...I hope you have luck with yours....Maybe you should ditch them and find a new one....

Ye, i am with wanadoo now (not just cos of limewire but other problems as well) but they have a policie where they ask for people using p2p networks to only download after a certain time in the evening so hopeuly they wont do this but even if they do, we have only just gone so are still in contract! :( Never mind, i will just hope for the best!

I too have used BT in the past but never again, I find them to be one of the most deceitful phone/ISP companies in the UK.

If you check their TV adverts, they always seem to promise more than you will actually get or after revising their products downwards they pretend that they are doing their customers a favour.

So, it is no surprise that only when their backs are up against it that they finally and publicly admit that they are throttling back on P2P users and say that they are doing it for the benefit of their customers.

BT see their customers as sheep to be fleeced.
