Exclamation Windows XP SP2 users, Please Read (Update of TCPIP.SYS on 2006-06-15)

Update of TCPIP.SYS

Microsoft released a new TCPIP.SYS with build 5.1.2600.2892 on the
yesterday's patch-day. The current Patcher 2.23d is still capable of
changing the half-open tcp limit. But you need to reapply the patcher to
set a higher limit to the new version.

Thanks for that one, I've just applied it and indeed, the update yesterday changed it....

Gotta reboot now to get it work...... .......(well, you're already on my blessing list, so no changes there.... )

If you've got a 64 kbps connection, that indicates you've got ISDN. Is that true? If so, you can double the speed by using two phonelines instead of one, though I'm not sure if that's possible with all ISDN modems.

Also, upgrading to 512 MB of RAM would help a lot- perhaps not with downloads, but with overall system speed, since WinXP usually likes a lot more.
