Files Abort and Won't Resume?

Hi, I keep getting the same error, where my files will download to about half-way then come up with "aborted" status and no resume option. Also no search results will be returned when searching and when I restart Limewire it starts downloading the files from the beginning despite the fact that the incomplete files are apparently full-sized... Help!

At one point in time, you have received a message stating that LW detected a corruption in a file & asked you whether to continue or not. You have ticked "no" & ticked always use that answer. What you need to do is go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>View>Popups & tick the option to Revert to Default.

Now, why are you receiving this message so often? It could be a firewire not properly configured or an aggressive anti-virus or other utility, etc. Or the files you are choosing are corrupt in the beginning. BTW a corruption can be as small as the id3 tag of an mp3 has changed since you 1st started downlding it so it doesn't agree with the original hash of the file you started to downld. The most recent LW betas have stopped this happening with such small corruptions due to id3 tags & descriptions of videos. AFAIK

Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

See T3 Spammers; mp3 Bit-Rates Versus File Sizes as that might be one reason.

BTW to resume your files, go to LW's Library window, select incomplete folder, select the files corrupted & press Resume*. Another option is to research the file topic & rechoose to downld (**** but initially cancel the file from the downld window!)

(While Limewire is closed) Try deleting the entire Incomplete folder. Remember to cancel all downloads in Limewire first. Limewire will then make a new Incomplete folder. If it doesn't help then post again.

Post all relevant info

PC or Mac version
Limewire version
Java Version
etc. etc.

Limewire 4.10.0
Java 1.5.0_06
PC Version

Even after exiting Limewire completely it won't let me delete the Incomplete folder as it says it is in use by another person or program

WRT LoTR, I do see the brick wall front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface, how would I go about fixing that?

Are you absolutely sure that Limewire is completely closed. The Incomplete Folder should be idle when it's closed.

Try right-clicking windows taskbar and choose taskmanager to see if infact it's still running. If not then use the Unlocker on it. Just download and install. Then right-click on folder and choose unlocker

BTW Unlocker will show the name of the Program or Process locking the file. It might come in handy if this fails

Get it here:

http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

LOTR will have to help you get rid of that brick wall. Don't have that much knowledge about Portforwarding

Thanks for your help, the Unlocker is pretty cool, I've downloaded a new version of Limewire and we'll see how it goes!

Continue posting in this thread thread if it doesn't work

It's a lot easier for people to help if they get some insight into the problem

Good Luck :)

Well, it seemed to not be working again despite the new version and deleting the incomplete folder, so I tried reducing the number of files I was downloading simultaneously and so far it seems to be going smoothly...

The brick wall is due to an unconfigured firewall. It may be a software firewall or it might be a NAT firewall within your modem/router. See tips on how to configure these here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Oh, now I've finally managed to download some of the files to 100%, but now they say queued instead of verifying the contents and won't finish...
