Default Fake "Mp3"s Files?

Firstly let me apologise if this has been discussed before, i done a few searches and read hundreds upon thousands of posts looking before i posted.

From all those posts I've taken tips and still come about the same problem.

The problem is that the search results bring up 'Mp3' files (whereas usually they are displayed as 'mp3') these files are all hosted as 'T3 or higher' (which as i have read usually indicate fake files). The problem is that the search is full of all these results and no real mp3 files.

The bands i am searching for is the B**h B**s and S***le M***s both of which are 'old' bands with both being around 30+ years old.

Do i need to update my version of Limewire?

What can i do to filter these bogus files? (I've tried filtering '.Mp3' files but then this filters out real 'mp3' files)

If no one has come across this problem then hopefully i will have highlighted a problem, but I'm sure more must be having this problem.

Thanks for your help, Muxx.

I've heard of this problem with videos, but not mp3's. Generally the results have large results such as 100 for the 1st result, 99 for the next, etc. So try choosing those that are 20 or 10 or less. At this point in time there's no answer. The LW progs are aware of this problem.

BTW please don't mention downlding copyright songs or files from copyright artists. Forum rules.

Ahh sorry about that i just thought since i had read alot of posts before posting and many people were suggesting trying older bands i thought i'd name them, but yeh, i won't mention them again.

I tried looking for files that have fewer numbers but even a song with 3 results was still an 'Mp3' rather than a 'mp3' and failed to download...

Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Muxx.

I have came across many mp3 fakes. Although even if it is an old or new band there is still a chance that it could be fake.I've came across fakes that had no file. Fakes that no player can play.(It was probably a virus because no player can play a virus. But my computer didn't get infected because I cancelled it. )
And a fake that was a different song. But skip the songs that are fakes. And put them in the junk filter so it can learn what's junk and what isn't. And so you dont come across that file again.

I have finally come across mp3 fakes. There seems to be 2 different types of fakes. One is fakes that show up in large no.'s such as 100 for one result, 95 for next, etc. but these files cannot be downlded. ie: fake results.

The other type is those garbagefan2 mentioned. The way to check is to view their details such as file size versus bit rate. If you see modem user results of same bit rate but different size, then the other ones are probably dud files. This was discussed here T3 Spammers; mp3 Bit-Rates Versus File Sizes
