![]() Hello. I have Limewire basic on my computer, which is a new computer, and have ben using it for about 6 months. I am now trying to get it to work on my parents computer, which is about 5 years old. They are running Windows 98. I have Limewire Basic 4.10.9 Installed. I also have dial up internet service. I have only once before downloaded about a half of a song (just to test it), and it worked then. That was about 3 months ago. Today I am trying to download some songs and the file downloads, but I cannot preview it, or play the file once it is completed. I've gone into my shared folder and also tried listening to it from there on Windows Media Player, and it will not work there either. I've tried this on 3 different songs today. One time today i had an error msg stating somthing about a firewall. I turned my Norton Anti Virus off, and it still didn't help. I've seen in the FAQ section on how to work with Firewalls & Windows XP, but nothing for Windows 98. HELP!! Does anyone know what may be going on? I'm not a computer whiz, but I can find my way around after awhile if it is explained. Thanks in advance. |

![]() Try using a different player to play the file. Are you getting an error message when you try to play? If you're not sure how to change your default player, there's some info here Changing default player Does your NAV include the Norton firewall? If so, you'll have to make sure it's configured to allow LW access (don't think it matters what OS you're using). There's a lot of firewall info & also links for configuring a firewall here Connection problems? Check here first! ![]() |

![]() Yeah, LW player sucks if you want the pure truth about it. It won't play more than once unless you clear it. Do like Birdy suggested and change it to Windows Media Player or which ever one you prefer. I had the same problem long time ago. Now, I have no problems with the playback. Brandon |
