IP Address How do i find my own limewire IP Address? |
On the LW search page, click on the Direct Connect tab (below Keyword). You should see your IP address followed by :LW's port number. If you don't see your IP then you're probably firewalled & would heve to sort that out before you'll be able to direct connect with anyone. Another site for finding your IP address is http://whatismyipaddress.com/ |
How do i get my firewall off |
Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall)? Make sure you're only using 1 firewall & that it's set up to allow LW access Firewall setup Read through this sticky. It's big & has heaps of info about internal firewalls within modems & routers (see the parts about UPnP & port forwarding). Connection problems? Check here first! Find out whether your modem/router supports UPnP. If so, make sure it's enabled & ticked within LW's options > advanced > firewall config. Find out whether your modem/router has an internal firewall (often NAT). You might need to port forward. |
ok i did what it says and i still have that icon and i still cant see my ip address any other suggestions |
Does your modem/router support UPnP & if so did you enable it? Did you find out whether your modem/router has an internal firewall? What are your details? OS(Win XP etc) LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) Firewall you're using Modem/router brand & model ISP Connection type (DSL etc) Where you connect from (home, school etc) Are you sharing a connection with other computers Is this your first try with LW |

(Does your modem/router support UPnP & if so did you enable it? Did you find out whether your modem/router has an internal firewall?) How can i find out |
If you got a manual with your router, it should be in there. If you don't have a manual, you could look on Google but you'd need to know the model of router. Have a good look all over the device, it should be written somewhere. |
