Downloading problem Hi everyone, I have downloaded lime wire last week and i thought that it was great because i had a really good download speed. But now i cant download anything, im lucky if i can even get a 1KB/s speed, do you have any idea as to what happened to make my download speed so slow. THanks |
Go and delete your " .limewire " preference folder (Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire) when LW is completely closed (i.e. also in the system tray) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 That might do the trick..... ;) |
It's generally due to your sources. Search again to find new sources. If still a problem, downld a magnet link from here & tell us what speeds you get: http://www.magnetmix.com/index.shtml |
when ever i delete my lime wire prefence folder and i start up limewire again it asks me what lanague i would like to use and the it creates the preference folder again. Also what is the "system tray" |
Yes deleting the LW preferences folder deletes all your set up settings. So next time you start LW you need to set them up again. We suggest this because sometimes the LW prefs become corrupted. System tray is the bar that runs across the bottom of your screen. When you hide documents or programs ... they go to the tray. AFAIK |
Thanks for the help- i'll let u know how i get on |

The past couple of days i'm lucky to get 2KB/s download,so i deleted my pref.as sugested...i din't know i would loose the running downloads!!! I thought i figuered out how to restart them from the incompleted file but they start from scratch. Is there anyway to regain the download?:( |
oh wait.... ...YES...IVE DONE IT !!! it's back on 90%...:D :D :D And it looks like my speed is up again too!!!!:D :) :D Crissy does a shakira booty shake for all...WOOOO HOOOOO ...LOL Thanks you guys...again...;) |
Actually, deleting the " .limewire " preference folder should not cause you to lose your Incomplete files, since the .bat & .dat file containing the information of the already started downloads is in the Incomplete folder, not the " .limewire " folder. What you will lose is the LW configuration information (i.e. language, listening port, folders shared, etc). This configuration you will be ask to re-do after starting LW again. Anyways, glad to hear that it worked out. ;) |
yep...i figured it out later foolofthehill...i just panict and posted too fast...sorry :o I am learning though, thanks to all of you out there. ;) |
