Can't Upload but can download

I don't seem able to (allow) uploads. I get hits but no uploads on things that people should want.

I'm using the latest Limewire Basic, Windows XP (firewall = off)
Norton Internet Security. I did a Firewall program scan and enabled Limewire. Still no uploads.

I'm connected to a T1 with a router but no firewall. Each PC here runs it's own firewall.

So I think I should ble able to configure anything I need to. I just don't know what to change.

The screen title constantly says "Enabling Open Information Sharing"

Any help would be appreciated. I'll go "Pro" when this is resolved.

1. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? (see sample image attachment below)

2. Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

You have a firewall problem then. It might be either your software firewall or your modem/router (most high speed ones have internal NAT firewalls!)

What brand & model modem/router do you have? You may need to enable UPnP if it has that ability or else, forward (open) a port on the device so people are not blocked from uploading from you.

Can upload but can't download

The router is an Adtran 616 (or less likely 676 - hard to tell)
Thanks.

Googling it I found it definitely uses NAT. Do you have a help manual for it?

Donzo12345 June 27th, 2006 10:11 AM

I don't have the book. The IAD was provided by our internet/phone provider. But I googled them and might be able to find something.

Any suggestions on what to look for ?

An operation manual for your model is what you need with details about how to port forward or enable UPnP or disable NAT (but only as a very last resort I wouldn't normally recommend due to security risks.) All I could find from their website was more programming-tech stuff from the manual I saw. :D
