uploads at only 1 kb/sec!? I have no problem downloading, but all my uploads are very slow, most of them at only 1 kb/sec. I have changed upload spaces to only 4 so there would be enough bandwidth (i only have a 512/128 connection) but even if there is only 1 upload its still only at 1kb/sec. What can i do to increase upload speed? |
In limewire go to tools>Options>Uploads>Basic, and check and see what the upload bandwidth is set at. If thats not it check to see if you have a firewall interfering with LW. Look for the globe icon at the bottom of LW. Is there a brickwall in front of it? If your not firewalled, then i would tend to think that your ISP is limiting your upload speed for P2P apps. Hope this helped:). |
You could also do a speed test to see what kind of speeds you get. http://www.dslreports.com/stest http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ |
ok, i guess i better set upload spaces to 3 then. if 16 kb all i got then i use all my bandwidth most of the time. thx for the help. |
Don't beat yourself up gghhjj 1. It's probably not your fault uploads are so slow. There are lots of stops between you and the person uploading from you. In fact they may have a very slow connection themselves and/or are performing multiple downloads from other hosts. 2. If you are seeing uploads of 8KB occasionally you are doing the best you can. In fact you should probably set your Bandwidth slider to 8 KB or less. You will need some of that bandwidth for your download communications. 3. Please attempt to read "GRANDPA's" posts in other threads concerning this. He does a great job of explaining the whys and wherefores. 4. I have an advertised upload bandwidth of 32KB (256 Kb). When I am not downloading or am away from my computer I normally set my upload slider to unlimited. Sometimes people upload at or near my max of 32KB. But, at other times there will be a poor soul at 1KB. No matter what I do to aid that person they remain at 1KB. So, as I'm trying to point out, some can and some can't. IT IS NICE OF YOU TO TRY TO HELP HOWEVER. |
