maximum download hosts?
 

I am just wondering why I cannot download from more than 4 hosts at a time.Yesterday I could and today it is only giving me a max of 4.(Have just upgraded as previous to that it was only allowing 2)Maybe there is work being done on site at the moment which is slowing it down?Thank you.

You can download from 8 hosts max normally. But that depends upon whether they have enough upload slots available, etc. Different days & times see different people online & different net traffic, etc.

Try searching the file topic again to see if you can get more sources. But 4 is not bad.

Ok thanks for that. The thing is that I have been on limewire for well over a year and have not had this problem before with such a low limit on the download especially when I am downloading from mega popular files that have well over 60 or more hosts.

Hmm ... but beware of those fake file results if you're downlding copyright material. They tend to show in their very high no.'s.

Personally I go after the rarer files so I don't normally get so many hosts to downld from unless I'm lucky. :D

Thanks again but I cannot understand what has happened since yesterday.I was wondering if maybe there is something blocking my connections.I have never had this problem before and I know all the different reasons that you are giving me but I just wondered if anyone else is limited to only 2 or 4 today or is there a problem my end I need to fix as it has limited me to a max of 4 hosts when 8 is normally the max.I can usually download so much faster.Sorry for all the questions.

There's the odd chance you're connected thru a dud or poor performing ultrapeer. You can close LW & reconnect to see if it picks up on newer ones. Check the addresses of the UP's on the connections window before you close LW.

If that doesn't help, perhaps try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) But if you do this you will need to reset all your options such as connection speed, downld location, etc. next time you open LW.
