Default Download continually regress until corrupt

OK I have an XP machine with free version of limewire. It is a FRESH image of xp not even week old. I have a cable modem connection that is pretty fast for cable, insight is the company. The problem is that when I go to download ANYTHING from LW it will get to about 30% complete while connected to multipule hosts then it will move back to about 15%. It will do this continually no matter what type of file or size usually it will get to about 60% and the ******* will tell me the file is corrupt. It even happened when I downloaded LW (had to do the full install). It seems to drop the host then jump back and I know that ALL the files out there are not corrupt cause sometimes i will get lucky (maybe 1 out of 40 tries) and it will actually complete the transfer. I played with the connections settings and still no luck so Please Please help!
