Corrupt files

I've searched for this topic and did find several posts, but I'm a complete newbie to Limewire and didn't really understand the answers.
Every (not exaggerating) file I download is very slow and always pops up as corrupt (when it hits about 97%). I've tried every speed and bit rate.
I have 5 bars (consistantly) and have a world with a wall in front.
What can I do to change this? Please remember I'm a beginner and need very elementary answers (sorry).
Thank you in advance for your help.

Have you ever tried to finish downloading one of those files to see wether it is really corrupted??
If so and it wasn't corrupted, then I would recommend to make a fresh install of LW and Java. That mean you have to uninstall LW (go START>Programs>Limewire>Uninstall; and START>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>JAVA).
Then reboot your computer, install the newest version of Java using the JRE offline installer and reboot again ( you can download it from here ):

The try also to use the offline installer of LW (newest version is 4.12.4) to install after you've installed JAVA and rebooted ( you can download it from here ):

I have tried to continue the download but it plays the first 10 seconds of the song than loops back to the beginning - over and over.
I've reinstalled both. Still does't work. I even tried to download a XXXXXX song that said it was corrupt. I've tried downloading everything - all speeds, bitrates, everything! What should I do now?

Well, at first the two things I've suggested above. Uninstalling both LW and Java. Maybe using the CCleaner afterwards to clean up your system:
http://www.ccleaner.com/(free tool).
Then installing Java using the above mentioned JRE installer, then rebooting and then installing LW using the offline installer offered at the link I have posted above.

Your brickwall in front of the globe is a different story. It means that LW detects a firewall blocking the access to and from the network. That would explain why you downloads are so slow.
How to configurate a firewall you can read here:

Please, no file names......;)
