need help I am having speed problems with LimeWire 4.12.4 that I just bought. I have a cable connection of 2.41 mbps and downloads was 307.86 kb per second. With LimeWire connected in turbo I am only getting a connection of 1 to 2 I KB's. I have compared my configurations with another user that has a connection speed of 1.25 mbps. and they are getting to download music at 25 kb's per second. I am hoping someone could help me with my speed issues quickly. I am not sure what is the problem, my computer is capiable of handling this program good. Thank you |
Download a file from here & see what speeds you get http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml Do a speed test & tell us your download & upload speeds http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1 Have you used other p2p apps & if so, do you have the same problem? Who is your ISP? *Hope it was LW Pro that you bought, LW basic is free. Did you get it from www.limewire.com? |

Did you have speed probs with Kazaa? Those magnetmix files should download really fast, if they don't it can point to an ISP problem. I can't find much info at all about your ISP... you should probably give their help desk a call & find out their policy on p2p use. Some ISPs shape bandwidth for p2p apps, which can reduce speeds to a huge degree. If you find that your ISP are shaping your bandwidth, you could try changing to a higher port (try one in the range of 49152 - 65535). There's no guarantee that it'll work though! If you did decide to change to a higher port, you'd also have to change any port numbers allowed through software firewalls & also any ports forwarded through a modem/router. (to change LW's listening port tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Apply to save any changes) |
