Hi, I need some advice about Lime Wire. I had been using with good results and then I must of downloaded a corrupt file. My computer totally went whack on me and I had to hire someone to fix it (which ended costing $100.00). Well stupid me downloaded Lime Wire again and then it happened again but was even worse. I couldn't even get to my start page. I had an error message saying my Windows was a fake file. That made no sense. I had Norton Anti Virus and a couple of other things but I don't know if they didn't do what they were suppose to or it just wasn't for that. The man who fixed my compter AGAIN said that Norton is nothing but garbage and he told me to never download any share files again. Can anyone tell me is there a way to use it but not get corrupt files and destroy my computer? Below is a few things about my computer.

I use Windows XP
I use High Speed internet

Don't know what other info any needs

Just be careful with what you download (zip & exe files are often infected)... scan everything that you download with your AV before you open it.
I don't use Norton, so I can't comment, but a few forum regulars do & are happy with it. Whatever AV you choose to use, make sure that you keep it updated.

yea u gotta agree with birdy do not dwnload zip/exe files i did that and fortunatly i had mcafee internet security suite and it completey took the blow for my system i say if u do download limewire again make sure u use a decent Av programme id say maybe mcafee IS or if u dnt want to pay use AVG its free but does get annoying or PM me And i can give u something tht will help u out as i say norton are a scam they either stop ur entire comp from working by being to secure or its not secure enough
