If you're using LW basic the max is 8 (10 hosts if you have a T3 connection). I think that this number of hosts was decided on so as not to place undue stress on the network, given the amount of users

If you try downloading from one host majority of the time, they are downloading new files as well as allowing you personally to download from their already downloaded files, sometimes this causes their kbps speed rate to drop slightly or dramatically, depending on who they are downloading from if this happens they could cancel your upload because they are frustrated that you personally are taking their bandwidth. If you downloading from a few hosts majority of the time they are sharing pieces of the file, ie splitting the file between them for quicker download, if one drops off it means their piece is normally completed, they cancelled, or they have disconnected and the remainder is left with the other hosts. However, if you are downloading from one or more hosts and it says "Need More Sources" - it means that the person or people you are downloading from have no sources left on their internet connection(s), "Waiting On Busy Hosts" means your in a queue with others who are already downloading "Position 1" means your next in line, any number higher than 1 is your place in that queue.
