If you have a wall in front of the globe it means that a firewall is blocking Limewire's full ability...
It can either be your firewall or a built in Nat firewall in your modem/router...
Can you tell me what protection you use on your computer and the name and model number of your modem/router...

Yep...
Have you got your mcafee firewall configured to allow LW and have you disabled your XP firewall ??

Your not dumb...
So you have had 2 firewalls running against each other (which is not a good thing to do as they clash)...So you have done the right thing by disabling the windows xp one...
I haven't deserted you I need to find some info on the Mcafee firewall...

Just a thought, you said you are connected via your NIC which means your are either connected to the internet via a modem/router or via an office (or building) network. Which probably means you have external firewall, i.e. outside of your PC, which LW is seeing.

If I am right then it is this external firewall you will have to configure to allow LW to see the internet (remove the wall from in front of the globe).

However, check first and let us know how you get on.

UK Bob

PS. I have a similar NIC card and I am connected to the internet via a modem/router.
