Default Download Speeds Slowly Die!!!

Help!!! I am dying here...

I have a problem whereby EVERY time I try to download something, the files accelorates its download speed (generally up to over 100). THen it immediatly slows down to the point where it shows zero or less than 5... I have high speed connection...

I am not sure what the problem could be...

Any ideas?

Download a file from here & see what speed you get
http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

Has this just started happening? Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall)? Have you used other p2p apps & if so, does the same thing happen? How many green comection bars do you see?
Do a speed test & tell us your speeds
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1

What are your details?

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

This actually has not just started.... it started about a year ago... I tried everything... I was using an ancient computer with many viruses... I stopped downloading at that time...

I just bought a new system yesterday... and the same **** is happening... I tried the speed test below, but apparently my browser does not support Java? I am using IE... how is this fixed? I will try to answer some questions below

Have you used other p2p apps & if so, does the same thing happen?
I used to use DC++ and this same situation started... I was using that app for years and it was gold... then this started...

What are your details?

OS(Win XP etc) - Win XP
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) New Lime Wire.. just loaded... and Java Run Time version 1.5.0_08
Firewall you're using...
Modem/router brand & model - Motoral sb5101 SURFboard cable modem
ISP - Rogers Cable
Connection type (DSL etc) - Cable highspeed
Where you connect from (home, school etc) - Home
Are you sharing a connection with other computers - NO
Is this your first try with LW - Tried with my old computer

I think Rogers might be the problem here
Use the forum search to look for Rogers, you'll be able to go through old threads. Lots of people have had troubles with this ISP traffic shaping!
Here are a few to start off with

Regarding the request to download a file from this site... it was a video a 48000kb file and the download speed was steady at 150kb/s ... that is wierd... the MP3 files of only 5000kb are slowing to a crawl... then to zero... with more than 10 sources of the file... could it be blocking the MP3 content?

Download a file from here & see what speed you get
