When click on "Download", nothing happens I have been using LimeWire for quite some time with no problems until recently when I try to download an audio file. Everything seems to be working fine except when I click on the "Download" button, nothing happens. I thought maybe my firewall was blocking the downloads, but I have done just about everything to make sure it is allowing the program to access the internet and receive. Any ideas on what else could be wrong? I am running version 4.12.6. My OS is Windows XP Prof (2002) SP2. I have cable internet connection. Thanks! |
Is the file going into the download pane? If it's not, you might have a license issue (click on link);) License |
still having issue Thanks, Birdy... I corrected the license issue. However, when I select a file to download, click "Yes" to the license question, it just sits in "Connecting" status until it finally says "Need more sources". I followed some of the advise about running the tests. I do not have a firewall issue and the speed test came out to by 7900kb/s or so. Is that good? I have no concept of what is good or not. Any more ideas? It seems like the whole program is running extremely slow. I have restarted a couple times with no change. I used to have no problems. The downloads would go really quickly and rarely said "Need more sources". :bangh: |

Those things that sit connecting forever are fake files... they're all through the network. It's just a pain! Typically, these fakes are new releases/very popular (but not always) & have lots of sources... up to 100. Stay away from files that have huge numbers of sources, go for a file with 10 sources or less. Search again & vary your search terms - look for artist or album, rather than song title. Try the All Types search. If you're looking for video, check a file before download with Bitzi... if the file's been rated then you'll get an idea of content & quality (a video file with lots of sources but no Bitzi rating is often a fake). Your speed looks pretty fast! Is it just your downloads that are slow? Has this just started happening lately? Who is your ISP? Download a file from here & see what speeds you get http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml There's good advice here about setting up LW for best performance, see if that helps Configuring LW for best performance |
