Limewire not loading incomplete downloads

I use Limewire, latest version, to download adult videos, but since I don't want others to see what I'm downloading, I move the contents of the Incomplete folder to another folder. Then, when I wish to continue, I move the contents back to the Incomplete folder and load Limewire and all goes well, or at least it did til today.

When I followed this procedure today, Limewire would not recognize or read its own .dat file in the Incomplete folder. I Resumed my downloads by going into the Library, but I think I've lost all the content I already had downloaded, and one file was 98% complete.

Anyone else experiencing Limewire not loading its own .dat file?

You need to move them there BEFORE you open LW. If LW is already open then it will not accept the previous data (& I think the downlds.dat file may get wiped clean.) Do you have a backup of the downloads.dat file? If yes, close LW, then move it to the incomplete folder.

That's what I did. If you re-read my post above, you will note that I moved the contents back to the Incomplete folder, THEN I started Limewire.

Downlds refuse to reload (click on link)

Let us know if it keeps happening. It's a rather risky approach you have. And keep a backup of the downloads.dat & .bak files somewhere else also.

With LW 4.12 you should be able to resume from Library window incomplete folder & they will continue from where they left off. That's using the Resume button.

Perhaps you moved the incomplete files out before LW had properly closed. Task manager will let you know if LW is fully closed.

Did that. I moved the files and the .dat files.

Ah, that could be. I'll keep a close eye on this and let you know if it happens again.

BTW, I gotta say, you guys are blazingly fast at replying. VERY impressed. If only ALL forums were like this.

I meant keep a 2nd copy of the downloads.bak files just in case. I know what you mean about some other forums. lol :D
