Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? IF yes, it represents a firewall of some description. Check the 3 sections here about possible NAT firewalls Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, cafe, etc)?

Question Downloading Files

I'm having the same problem as yourself. I used to have an older version of LimeWire before I decided to again purchase the six months of updates. I am now using LimeWire 4.12.6 Pro and my Internet connection is DSL broadband and using Java 1.5.0_06 from my home computer. I cannot download anything, it just says connecting and sticks there.

I have emailed LimeWire 3 times however I still have not received a reply as yet. I have removed LimeWire from my computer and re-installed, this did not help me in anyway. I have also checked that my firewall was not causing any problems, this seems to be configured correctly. By the way my firewall is from Bullguard.

I hope that someone can help as this is very frustrating indeed.

Thanks

The following thread link has 3 sections. One discusses software firewalls, the 2nd modem/router internal NAT firewalls solved by enabling UPnP, the third about forwarding a port when UPnP doesn't work well or isn't supported; see Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

BTW even though it's a different section & program, I say something similar here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=61028

I thought that you would like to know how things were getting on and by the way thanks for the advice from 'Lord of the Rings', I know some how its put me on the right track. Anyway to cut a long story short I decided to check if I needed any patches or updates from Microsoft only to be informed that I needed to update to Internet Explorer 7.

Well I updated and of course excepted all the patches that was advised for communicating with the Microsoft Website. I then removed LimeWire and again I went to the Download page and received LimeWire Pro 4 12.6.. I am now very please to inform you that all appears well. I am now receiving downloads at super turbo speed. I hope that this information will maybe help you Michellerose1579. Thanks again.
