lost? my downlaods but they are in the incomplete folder

Hi
I'm new in this forum

when downloading big files (as BBC Horizon and Discovery Channel documentaries) from 200Mb to 600Mb, my computer shut down due to a power loss.

when restarted after a system auto check up I restarted Limwire and it announced something like "sorry Limewire coudn't save your incomplete or unsaved downloads". It took me more than a 2 months to nearely finnishing downloading them! some are at 90% finished

To my surprise they are still in the Incomplete folder! and I can sill have previsialisations for some of then !
When I tried to reactivate them they appeared in the download pannel but as new requested downloads ! ! !

Can you please

Sorry for my poor English
Thank you in advance

"IF" you're using LW 4.12 you can restart them from where they were. Go to the Library window, select the incomplete folder, select the 1st incomplete file then whilst holding the SHIFT key select the others by selecting the last. Then press the Resume button. ;) :)

If you're using an earlier version of LW then unfortunately they will start from zero % when you do the above.

Re Help: if change from 4010.3 to version4.12 it's OK ?

Thank you for your help :Smilywais:

I'm currently using the LM 4.10.3. If I chang it to the 4.12 version can I still recuperate them?

Lord of the Rings September 6th, 2006 06:53 AM

I'm not sure. Try & let us know if it works! ;) :)

Strobe Wylan September 22nd, 2006 09:25 AM

So, does anyone know if that works?

dawnlovesmike September 26th, 2006 05:09 PM

My Lord,
This DOESN'T work. 4.12 stalls/freezes on me quite often (older versions rarely did,) and I lose my old downloads ("unable to restart...") I tried to restart them as you explained, but they always start at 0% and don't seem to know who the original host was. I've also lost very hard to find files that had taken days or weeks to get just the partial download. Could this be a bug?

Lord of the Rings September 26th, 2006 05:27 PM

I guess it depends how old your previous version was. For windows one version works well for one person & not another, then next version it can be vice versa. The best I can suggest is these tips: Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! which was intended for mac but also applicable to windows users in principle. I can assure you it makes a big difference!

Perhaps also with the newer version LW, try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

BTW come to think of it, it was said to me by a dev that some incompletes from older versions might struggle in the newer versions. But that was a while ago (ie: after LW 4.8.1 due to a no. of changes in the internal LW engine so to speak.) But after updating that newer downloads & incompletes would behave much better. I'm not sure what difference this makes with LW 4.12

"Power went out, started computer, and frostwire, it said 'unable to restart your previous downloads;........I went to the incomplete folder and clicked resume, but it seems to start from the beginning....the files were 94% complete already...

CAN SOMEONE HELP AT THE EARLIEST?

Sometimes if LW is not shut down properly i.e., power outage, they go back to 0, and you'll have to start them from the beginning :(.

Strobe Wylan March 28th, 2007 07:58 AM

I never did solve this problem. Tried all these ideas last year. I'm using 4.10 but I downloaded 4.12 to another computer to try that and still didn't work. I started over at 0 % on files I could find. The rest are just lost.

jimi_333 March 28th, 2007 10:14 PM

0% may be misleading

This has happaned to me a couple of times too. With the latest download, when I restarted it, it said 0%. Then when it connected to a host it jumped up to 25%, the same place it was before the problem!

I Also have a problem like that....but the difference is that although I download music files they appear in the shared file as .zip and I can't open them....does anybody know what to do???

lepas,
Sounds like you might have a worm. Download AVG Free from the link below & see whether that helps.
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
Download it, update it, scan your computer & see if it finds a worm (Delf.ATB).

Search the forum & you'll see a few people have had this problem...AVG has fixed things for some;)

If you need more help, try one of the sites below.
