Default "Awaiting Sources" query

I'm trying to download some TV shows. They're taking a while to download, which I understand, so I've been connected to Limewire constantly for a couple of days. I've got a few downloads on "Awaiting Sources", every now and then I click "Resume" to see if anyone's connected. What usually happens is the download will connect and if there's anyone available, it will start downloading, or alternatively, will set me to either Waiting On Busy Hosts, Waiting In Line, or Awaiting Hosts. But lately it's been going straight to "Awaiting Hosts" again, completely skipping the connect.

Is it because I've been connected for so long? Or do I have a problem with Limewire itself? I actually tested the problem out by downloading a random music video which I knew would connect with Need More Sources. I followed the same steps...but this one connects...then sends it back to Awaiting Sources. So I'm presuming it's because I've had these other ones on awaiting for longer. I'm baffled. Any help would be muchly appreciated. Thank you

Hi Both,

With large files it is best to try and find files hosted by a number of hosts, ... up to 20 or so. Files with a great many hosts can be fakes quite often. This way if a host or two switches off during the download, others will remain. You must remember you are downoading from similar people to yourself and they may not be too keen to stay switched on for ages.

If you have a file awaiting sources, it can be worth re-searching the file, and this can sometimes kick start a download into resuming, this seems to work better than "resume"

You may also find it best to cut your losses and start again with a fresh download.

I hope these thoughts help ... There are many other explanations, but these are just a few

Thanks for the tips, Hobo!

I wish I could find files with more than one or two hosts, that'd solve a lot of my problems. But it's fine, the TV shows I'm downloading probably aren't as popular as some, so I understand there wouldn't be many hosts for them.

I've been re-searching the files intermittently and it works sometimes, but sometimes they just don't wanna show themselves! lol

Anyway, for some reason the problem I was having has corrected itself and I'm connecting as usual again. So I'll just be patient and get them downloaded eventually...albeit at around 2kb/s! Although I have noticed I get better speeds when I have no uploads...I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or not. Oh well!
