Unable to download porn (firewall help needed) I can download everything else with no problems, but I am unable to downloade porn. The small globe on the bottom line has a brick wall in front of it even though I have been through the business of adding the TCP and UDP gnutella thingies. I have also tried to completely switch off windows firewall, but the brick wall is still there and I am assuming that this is what is stopping me from downloading porn. Please help! |

LimeWire doesn't discriminate between a porn file and any other file. You can filter them from your search results but it won't stop a file from being downloaded just because it's porn. Possibly the files are corrupt/spam/fake. What's the file extension(.avi, .mpg, .wmv, ect)? The brick wall means you have a firewall blocking limewire. Windows XP has a firewall built in. If your running another firewall you should disable the XP firewall and configure your other firewall to allow LW full access to the internet. Also your modem/router may have a firewall in it and will need to be configured. Instructions for configuring you firewall and router can be found in this Sticky thread: Connection problems? Check here first!

The files are mainly mpg. or mpeg. Even though I seem to have enabled the Upnp I still get the brick wall (and still no porn ). Would you recommend me trying to set the limewire configuration to a manual port? Then I just need to check whether my router has a firewall or not, right? |

Manual port forwarding almost always works, while UPnP doesn't work always even if the manufacturer claims it does. Try going to this site http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm and see if there are instruction for your router note: Common things that people forget when doing this 1. Limewires manual port and listening port have to be the same number for this to work. (one between 50000 and 60000 recomended) 2. It is just as important to configure your computer to use a static IP (do not skip that step) If you run into trouble or can't get it to work try posting the routers brand and model here |

argh. following the guide Sleepless linked. Just finished setting up my static ip, but when I returned and followed the guide, when in dos directly afterwards, the part where I type "telnet 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1," I get the reply: "There couldn't be made a connection to the host on port 23. the connection was not made" (In danish, rough translation ) . So what went wrong, and what am i to do? Thanks for all the help so far. |
