Files disappear as I watch??? Hi please help. This has only started recently and I am not aware of any changes to my system (mcafee recently installed but am sure it was Ok and had not developed the problem then) I have 4.12.3 pro limewire This is what is happe3ning; as I search the files appear (as normal) but many appear and then disappear in a second - they kind of flash on the screen. Recently when I 'search again' I actually end up (often) with less 'finds' than I started with. What's happening? How can I cure it? Thank you David |
It sounds to me like your junk filter. You may have it set too strongly. Or else, you have accidentally added good files to the junk filter so it has been trained badly. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Filters>Junk filter & change the intensity down below 50% (I have mine set to about 35%.) If that doesn't fix it, then use the untrain filter option on the same option window. If these actions don't fix it then please get back to us. Or let us know how it goes anyway. ;) :) BTW it's not abnormal for the junk files to suddenly appear for a second & then disappear. Perhaps they really are junk, & your search isn't good enough or just can't find the real files ... if anybody is sharing those particular files. |
ref Disappearing Files Thank you very much for the reply. I have waited a couple of days before replying to you and made the adjustments you suggest. Since then I continue to get the sudden disappearence but am willing to agree it may be the junk files. However, what concerns me is why, after I search again (get more results), I seem to have less files than previously. May be I have the wrong idea but to 'get more results' is supposed to add to the previously found files and not remove some. Thanks again for the quick reply - I would appreciate more help on this matter David |
You can view the junk results. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Filters>Junk & set junk to show at bottom of results or in place. This is one way to be sure. Remember for copyright files, there is a lot of junk out there that will appear. If good files show up in the junk results, then select them & press the junk button to designate as not junk. It all depends on how well you train the junk filter. |
