playing file after download problem!! I have been having a problem playing my songs after downloading them. The file would download without any problems, but then when I go to preview or play the song it will not play. The bar indicating which song is play will only show the title of the song for a split second and return the grey box. Help would be very appreciated. |

They may very well be bad files. See Recognising Fake files. Then for tips on searching see How to find music If your using the limewire player, try playing them in a different player. The limewire player is not very good and is prone to skipping, and cutting out, especially while using your cpu for other things. In LW go to Tools>Options>Player, untick the box and click apply. Then songs will launch in your default player. See this thread for related info: CODECs list and alternate players for Movies.

There is such a thing as too many codec. If you have downloaded several codec packs you may have the same or similar codecs installed twice or even three times. This will often confuse the players. Try downloading VLC player. It has built in codecs and will not use any other codecs www.videolan.org . If that plays your files then it's time to clean up your codecs and maybe players as well. Then start over. Media Player Classic is quite good and then just install the codecs as you need them and try to stay away from downloading more than one codec pack (or even none if you don't mind installing single codecs as you find the need) Also .mov files (quicktime files) are very often currupt or turn out to be something quite different than what you intended to download. Usually turn out to be porn if they even work. |
