Problems with download speed

Hi i'm having a problem with p2p programs
I have a 300kbps cable internet
I NEVER get downloads over 2KB/s in any p2p program (limewire, bittorrent, emule, kazaa, etc..) when i suposed to get ~36KB/s.
I called my ISP and it says that is nothing wrong with my connetion and it doesn't shape p2p connections.

what is weird is that my upload is normal :yikes: i get ~15KB/s, normal for my connection.
and in limewire always shows "turbo connection"

Please help me!!!
thank you

Who is your ISP (internet service provider)?

Try downlding a magnet link & tell us what speeds you get: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

Keep in mind a 300 kbps net speed is roughly equivalent to about 34-37 KB/s (including overhead loss) in LW.

Don't always believe the front staff when they say they don't shape bandwidth. Often the people at the front don't even know.

I'm from Brazil-Rio de Janeiro
My ISP is Predialnet.

I already tried to download from http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml and it didn't work.

When i called them i ask to talk to the net administrator and he sayd to me that they don't shape it and my connection is fine.
They have a VPN that the clients connect and can use p2p programs, but when i connect to the VPN my p2p get worst then without it.

I don't know... maybe he's lying???

Another thing that i forgot to say: The addition of all downloads doens't get over 2KB/s too.

Personally I'm not sure what to advise. If you have problems downlding those magnet links or at low speeds then it very strongly suggests ISP intervention such as p2p bandwidth shaping. You could try connecting thru a higher port but it might not make a difference. Try connecting thru ports 49152 - 65535. A good one to try is 64049. ie: go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port to such. If possible also change the connection port to 64049

Otherwise try some other gnutella programs & see if you have the same problem; Just to check, you might try FrostWire or Phex to see if you have the same problems.
