Slow Downloads
 

Hi - like many many people, I seem to have very slow downloads. I thought it was normal, because I hadn't seen this forum and realised just how slow it was compared to others'. I have read the various posts about tweaking LW, but have had no luck - my average DL speed is 8 KB/s, which is really getting me down.

My setup is:

OS - Win Xp SP1
LW - 4.12.6 & 1.5.0_06
Firewall - McAfee
Modem/router brand & model - Thomson Speed Touch 330 modem
ISP - BTOpenworld
Connection type - ADSL
Where you connect from - home
Are you sharing a connection with other computers - No
Is this your first try with LW - No

I have done a few broadband speed checks - results seem to vary greatly, but the average is 700 kb/s down and 175 kb/s up.

I tried dling a video file from magnetmix - it came down at between 75-90 kb/s but other dls are still 3-8 kb/s now.

There is no brick wall in front of the globe to indicate that there is a firewall in the way.

I'm not sure what I can do next. :bangh: :bangh: :bangh:

I'm having similar problems mainly just with a certain four videos that I've been trying to download for a month. Songs are a breeze.
