why can't i block some hosts?
 

i get an alarming number of unsavory files in my search results and i click and block each and every time but it doesn't seem to get rid of them for the next search
are they changing the number every time, or are there THAT MANY out there? is it possible to get rid of them entirely?

I believe LW will be adding a similar blocklist as BearShare had. So within the newer versions many of those spambots will be blocked with any luck. At least that is my understanding of the concept. To answer your question, there's a lot out there, plus they may well change ip. They are well organised & sponsored groups who do the spamming. To get an idea of who, see Recognising fake files
