iTunes 7/Limewire issues I downloaded iTunes 7 and it wouldn't play any of my L/W music. I properly unistalled 7 (see link 1 below), re-downloaded 6, and all is well again. But are there correct iTunes 7 settings that allow L/W music to play on iTunes 7? I am looking for a very detailed answer, in which ALL possible problem area settings are described, where they are located....AND HOW TO GET TO THEM, and what changes are required. There are many computer illiterates here (like me) and iTunes support won't answer questions about P2P users. I really think one HUGE answer, rather than having to micro-manage many little issues on this question would help everyone, including the administrators. If you have come up with the settings for iTunes that allow all L/W music to play, what are they? As a "for instance", during my transfer of L/W library to the new iTunes 7, a box would come up about converting files from one format (?) to another. I believe CAV vs. WAV comes to mind? Is this conversion what stopped my L/W songs from playing? Also, in searching through the iTunes HELP literature, I found words to the effect that iTunes 7 won't play any music downloaded for free from the internet. Is this true? So..... 1.) Will iTunes 7 play L/W music? If yes, please list and illustrate ALL settings that are required on both L/W and iTunes 7 to make this possible. 2,) Is there a way to modify the tags on L/W songs so that I don't have to re-tag in iTunes. About 50% of L/W songs are tagged correctly for transfer, with the title and artist matching the iTunes title and artist boxes, while the other half are tagged so that both the title AND artist go into the iTunes title box, with nothing in the iTunes "artist" box. This makes it impossible to keep effortless organization of music by the artist. I link first a wonderful example of the type response I think many, many of us would appreciate. On the off-chance that 7 won't play L/W, this first link describes how to properly UNINSTALL iTunes 7. The second link goes to a website that still has iTunes 6 available for re-downloading. This query, and your detailed response might make a great "Sticky"? Thanks in advance. http://www.iprong.com/phpBB2/viewtop...?p=59481#59481 http://www.softwarepatch.com/network...-security.html |

itunes 7 issues Thanks, hobo...I'll see what answers come up on the Windows threads..if I reinstsll 7, i wiil show steps to the verbiage in thier help section about no longer playing ifree nternet music. Very disturbing....but if no-one is having problems, except a few, it must be a false threat. |

I installed both iTunes 7 with QuickTime on Windows 2k but didn't notice anything odd. I don't like the way itunes continually adjusts the gaps between songs for playback since no other versions did that. But I guess that's acceptable. |

Thanks, Lord...It looks like it must be the "set-ups" on my own computer. All music transfers, but when you click to play a song, nothing happens. I'll stick with "6" until I have a local expert take a look at my settings. |

On my mac it updates it quickly but my windows does it slowly. And always does this updating process when opening or updating added files. Quote:

itunes won't play Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me with the same problem as some other users. I have Windows XP and a few days ok installed itunes 7. It worked fine for a few days but then all of a sudden won't play any music. It shows up in the box at the top but no sound or movement through the song occurs. I did a total unistall of itunes 7 and then installed itunes 6. This hasn't made any difference and i still have the same problem. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. The simpler the better please! Thanks so much |

Easiest answer is to turn Pause-sound off. That's more of a system setting though. Check your system sound settings for this possibility. Stick a CD into your computer. Open iTunes & see if it can play the songs. Let us know what happens. Are you using headphones or output from computer to speakers/stereo? Did you consider using the Add/Remove ->Repair option for iTunes? An example almost deleted now for LimeWire is described in step 4 here: Fixes for Limewire (it no longer applies to LW so it doesn't have any relevance to LW, but only other programs.) |

I have problems with itunes and limewire pro working together. I have figured out that it is quicktime causing the problems. If I install limewire pro by itself, it works. If I install itunes 7 by itself it works. I can run only 1 of these apps. ( actually, I can install both apps but only one app works. Limewire will not work unless I uninstall quicktime. In both cases, I get a message unexpected error occured terminating program. Any help would be appreciated...Thanks Rick |
