Great ... that was the hope. And so they should if the problem occured within the recent LW version. |
I have just booted up (after a crap day at work mind ... so not in the best frame of mind) and the first thing the system says is sorry Limwire cannot reload your saved files (or something like that) and all my incomplete files are red !!! I am hoping like Damon that after re-downloading they'll jump up to where they were yesterday. To be honest I have had quite a few problems with Lw of late. I hope the next version is kinder to me. :Smilywais: (trying to remain phylosophical) |

Update and Clarification From my previous message I think people got the impression I said ALL the files started from their previous states alas it was only some.... To clraifiy. The following file behviour has been observed to varying degress...depending on how corrupted the files have become.... 1) In some cases I am lucky...(not in enopugh cases for me to have much confideance in the software as my preferred fileshare tool)...The file reports 0% for a few moments and then jumps to its previous level. 2) In some cases...far to many for my liking...the file reports 0% downloads to about 2% then resets to 0% and starts from scratch...The 40%+ previous Progress is completly lost 3) In some cases, the file continues to download to 100% and then gets stuck never completing....Exiting and reentering Limewire causes them to reset to 99% and the majority continue from there.... 4) In only a few cases a file was completly corrupted and could not be restarted in any shape or form...It had to be deleted so that I could begin the download again from scratch... 5) The extent of the curroption...The files that are most curropted are those that I was downloading at the time...However the fact that it affects every other file (i.e. not downloading/uploading) is a bit of a smack in the face... Given the regulairty in which the program has crashed on me I am currently on the look out for a recommend alternative...I had previously been using ED2K with no problems what so ever,.... Incidently from my experience NEVER leave limwire in the background if you wish to run ANY full screen program...It has crashed 100% of the time!!!! Unfortuntly this is my preferred method of use, leave my downloads runnign in the background while I play a game....Hence my search for a better program...I am about to try using Gnucelus.... Damon |
Why not try Phex? It's a good program. |
Thanks I will try it..... Its just rather frustrating to lose all your download progress...however it is partially my fault I did not think to backup my incomplete folder....If I had done so I would only of lost my recent progress rather than entire downloads.... Nevermind |
Would only need to backup the downloads.dat & .bak files. But if you're moving onto Phex ... :D BTW if you were using Mac OSX then I could offer you an auto backup program for LW download prefs. But it's only for mac unfortunately. In any case, with LW 4.12.6 it now has an auto recovery backup which "should" work. I know it worked for me. |
Resume Issue Hi Guys, After re-installing windows and re-installing LimeWire , I go to the library and see my incomplete file, also in a directory called D:\incomplete\. When I click on resume button to resume the file, it starts to download, but it starts from 0%. I made a backup of the file with a .orig at the end of it. I then closed limewire and then went to the D:\incomplete folder and exchanged the file name that is downloading with the orig filename i had and then restarted limewire and resumed the filefrom the library and another occasion just let it start downloading from the download tab(pane) , but the dam thing starts from 0%, i dont get it.The filenames are exactly the same.... I am using version 3.8 , very old version, because i prefer the look. I have the latest version 4.12.6 , and want to know without causing myself more pain , will it resume files in the incomplete directory? Thanks for reading. |
