Question Haven't posted in a while but...

I know this question is often asked. But I cant play avi. files, and when I had my laptop I downloaded Divx, and that worked. But it doesnt help on either of my desktops.

It still isnt working with the VLC. It says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Its whenever I download an avi. file and try to play it on my windows media player. This is on a brand new XPS.

See if these are of any help (1) Setting Default video app & (2) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=62899

Wow that was fast. Comment: if VLC can't play the file, then it's either a real player file, newest wmv format or no good.
