Whenever my downloads complete i get a notice that the file is corrupted. If I download it anyways i can't open it. Whenever i try to launch a non-corrupted program it says that lime wire can't launch it due to security reasons. My computer also wont allow me to access zipped folders. it says i am denied permisson. Help please

The Launch function in LW is not designed for opening programs that may have viruses, etc. It's designed for opening media files like videos & music. So open the program outside of LW. Scan it 1st with your AV program. For fast & easy access, go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link) & the folder will open up for you.

Might have downloaded virus. To be sure, register at norbie's site & follow his directions carefully; NorbiesWorld (click on link). Norbie is an "expert" & will know for sure if you have a problem & direct you how to fix it.

Opening downloads

Hi, I am having the same problem and its driving me insane! I'm also a computer idiot and dont understand half of the jargon.
Trying to open the downloaded zipped file gives me a virus message and wont open....can anyone put it in simple terms of how to stop this??

Don't download anything smaller than 2,000 KB (2 MB). Scan all files with your Anti-Virus program. To find your files, go to Library window, select Saved Files & press Explore button.

Virus with Zipped file

Thanks for quick response. I have done this on a number of occassions but by the time I get to view the files, my anti virus thing has removed the file.
In short, when I try and open the zipped filed contents, my virus message pops up telling me the file has been removed.
If i follow the process you say (befor opening in LW) I scan it and my virus s/w tells me no virus found. Losing the will to live:bangh:

Well it sounds like many zips out there are infested with virus. Some deliberately by companies to stop people sharing. I guess you could always try Bitzi to see if it's listed there for user-feedback; How to use Bitzi Web Lookup

Those rar's & zip files that are less than 1,000 KB I would designate as Junk using the junk filter. Select them & press the trash can icon. And of course arrange your results by size so it's easy to see the largest. Arrange search results by size (click on link)

Programs are generally going to be over 3,000 KB (3 MB).
