Default Another "Limewire Running Slow on Fast Connection"

I am getting download speeds of less that 5kb/s:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) XP SP2 (with TCPIP patch)
2. What firewalls you have? Xp firewall
3. How much ram? 512MB
4. Hard Disk space available? 89% free from 100gb
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) wireless (54.4.MBps)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Linksys WRT54G
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. update 09
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? platinum communications
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "Your test worked!"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I'm on laptop, connected with on other home computer (has same problem)
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. just got wireless, but had faster speeds on dialup
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? no
I have uPnP enabled on my router, and have also tried port forwarding to no avail. I have set up the XP firewall to except Limewire, but that never worked so i disabled it, and that didn't work either. Files from magnetmix.com go very slow (0-1kb/s). I emailed my ISP, and they said that they don't shape P2P connections. They suggested configuring the router and firewall (which I have done). I'm all out of ideas, help!

Do a speed test & tell us the results
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1

If files download slowly from magnetmix, it's not a good sign.
Have you used any other p2p apps & if so, were downloads slow?

Check out the thread below, it has some info about Platinum (see LOTR's post for links). There have been a few other Platinum customers with the same complaint.

564.9 kilobits/s
I just tried Morpheus and got same results as Limewire.
I have tried pretty much everything on the forums and am pretty stumped
I don't think it's my ISP cause I recieved this email:

We do not limit p2p traffic in any way on our network. Your best bet it
to make sure that your router has UPnP enabled, and that any firewall
software you might have installed has the appropriate ports open for
your program to function properly. You will have to research on the
Limewire site to see which ports these are supposed to be.

OK, I've also found that Limewire is automatically changing the "Listen on" port, even when I set it manually. This is causing conflicts with my firewall and my direct port forwarding settings on my router. When I try to change back to the original port, it tells me that it is not available.
Any idea what this means?

Try using port 64049. Make sure both your listening port & manual port forward box have the same port. Also within your router.

What port were you using for Morpheus?

When files download slowly from magnetmix, it often points to an ISP problem. Of course, I can't say for sure that it's Platinum's fault & I'm not trying to pass the buck & say it's nothing to do with the LW setup

I was using 19301 on morpheus but changed to 64049. My ISP insists they do not influence P2P but I'll keep in touch with them.
Thanks for help.

Try this link below, but follow it to the letter. i found his tips very helpful. #1 is you learn all about download speed, and then you you learn tweek Lime wire to work for you. Once you understand your download speed compared to limewire speed you will work out it is actaully loading fater than you think.
