![]() I have been using Limewire for about 6 months and never had any problems. About two weeks ago, i got behind a firewall and I finally got that issue worked out, but ever since then my download speeds are very very slow. I've read several of threads in this forum and haven't found anything that helps me. I have Mac laptop and connect via cable modem. I'm not sure how to tell what version of OS X I am running or what my connection speed is. If someone can help me I am wide open to suggestions because I even thought I know how to use a computer I don't really understand the lingo used in the forum. Basically, I'm ignorant to the situation. Thanks |

![]() Click on the apple top left and About this Mac for computer details. Also go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest and do a couple of speed tests and to http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml and download a file from there and see what speed it makes. This will give you an idea of what sort of speed you should expect. The following link has a lot of information you will find useful. If you still need help go to the second post where you will see what information would help us help you: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357 |

![]() Magnet link from that site should go anywhere up to & over 200 KB/s. If you're getting slow speeds from there, then it sounds like your ISP is to blame! It looks like Vista-Express is not as express as they claim when it comes to p2p. You could try another gnutella program & see if the same thing happens. If yes, then it's definitely your ISP to blame. Try this one: Phex (click on link) to see if you have the same problems. |

the only difference i have is that i run microsoft and i'm with talktalk. can someone please help?? |

![]() Yes, TalkTalk is one of the UK ISP's that shape bandwidth against p2p programs. The answer is to use it at certain times of the day. You will find TalkTalk listed here: ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire & check out the link for it because it discusses the period of time of day it's best to use it. |
