Question Invalid folder - No permission to write in it ?

I'll do my best to explain my problem in english...

I create any normal folder in My Document folder and when I try to set it as my "Saving file" folder in Limewire, a message pops up and says that the folder is invalid and that I don't have the permission to write in it. So, I can't save my files anywhere so when I download something, it says, after the 100%, that the file couldn't download.

Gab.

Haha, it's the first time I post in a forum, and those damn lil' smiley icons are rarely funny

1. Which operating system are you using? I had the identical problem with the latest beta when I set up a new account & lacked system permissions to write to other partitions. So ... I changed permissions. (mac osx)

How to change permissions will depend upon your operating system.

In windows, you can set permission access for particular areas of your computer. If you're the admin of your computer then I'd be surprised you had this issue unless you were attempting to save to a system folder area or root level of drive.

2. Where are you trying to save your files to?

If you have more than 1 storage drive on your com Dont use C: use another
drive like D: Go to, my computer, double click on D:,In a clear space on that page right click, new, folder Name it so its easy to find. Make a link to your
Desktop for quick access.
Then go to limeWire, Go TOOLS/OPTIONS/SAVING/BROUSE/ Click on menu bar choose D; and ckick on the folder you made, now press SELECT.
Hope that helps. any probs or if it helped let us know.
Peace.

I'm the admin of my computer and I'm trying to save my files to My documents\Musique and it still doesn't work.

I don't think I'm using the beta version, although I'm not sure...
And my operating system is Windows XP SP2..

I really don't know what's happening......

An alternative is to set up another folder with a similar name & choose that instead to download to. Then later move to your Musique folder.

Another option is to make sure you have permissions. Go to Control panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Shared Folders > select Shares. Go to Action menu & select New > File Share. Then browse to find Musique. In box below write Musique. Press Next button, then select permissions for either all users or all admins, etc.

That's how it is on Windows 2000, I presume it will be the same for XP.

BTW whilst you're there in the Computer Management control panel, go to User groups & select users, & check your status as a user. You should be an admin, not a power user.
