Angry Limewire uploaded ITSELF onto other computers in the house!

Please help! About 4 or 5 days ago, Limewire uploaded itself onto other computers in my house, along with some songs I downloaded recently (christmas songs). Why did it do this? How do I fix it and stop it from happening again? We have wireless internet, but we aren't networked per say.

You probably have a network virus.

OK, so all your computers are connected to the internet via your wireless connection.

You picked up a virus or worm, that virus/worm then sends a signal to the internet that it's found a host. Since most viruses/worms are designed not to reinfect the same computer with itself it then goes looking for other vulnerable computers, which it no doubt finds by downloading itself via your connection.

Now whether it is a network virus/worm or not doesn't matter, your computers are infected and will remain so until you do something, i.e. disinfect your PCs with an AV.

What do you mean LW uploaded onto your computers. Do those other computers also have LW installed? There is a process where LW updates are shared via the gnutella network & are downloaded & shared from the preferences folder. This is to help speed up other peoples installing/updating of LW.

I'd recommend registering here NorbiesWorld (click on link) & getting norbie to help if you need help (follow his directions carefully.) He is an expert & is aware of most viruses on the gnutella network.

Smile Analizyng the case...

i deducted that, as someone said upper on the posts chain, "it could ve a virus", but if P2P networking isn't allowed, i think the virus attached it's code to Lw installer, send your Pc's Ip's to ahacker, and the last one injected a copy to all the computers, and as Lw is a so-trusted app. nothing suspicious happened -in the top of the thing-, that's waht i think, hope it helps to you...
