Default port forwarding

i tried this once before with some help on here but had no joy. i'm ready to try again but cant find my original post. i'm on aol platignum using a netgear dg834g v3 router. from what i remember of my last attept i needed a dns server and aol wouldn't give me one as they don't support a static ip. i downloaded the tool from www.portforward.com but unless i'm willing to pay it wont configer my router. any advice?

AFAIK, you shouldn't need the tool from the portforward site...just follow their instructions.

Go through these static IP instructions, see if you can see your DNS server numbers.
http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
If they're not there, you'll have to find out from AOL. You don't have to mention anything about static IP, they should just give you those numbers.
Once you've got all the info, set up the static IP & that's the number you have to enter into your router's config to port forward.

Then try these instructions for port forwarding
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/Limewire.htm
(there's no DG834G v3 listed, just DG834G...so just check that things look the same as the pages within your router).
At the end, don't forget that the listening port & manually porwarded port number have to be the same
