Question Help - Save movie download to DVD

Hi, I have downloaded a movie from Limewire and can watch it on my computer, but when I go to save it on dvd I can't. I'm using DVD shrink and then Img tool burn. I can copy my own DVD's but it will not let me use the downloaded file. Hope that made sense. Please help if you can.

You need to convert the file to dvd format and then burn it...
Here are some options to help ...
http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html This will convert
http://www.dvdsanta.com This will convert and burn

More than likely there's a corruption inside the file...Because of this I'd say santa can't recognise it...Try using a video fixer and see if that helps....

One option is this: buy a DVD player that will play .avi movies! I got one for Christmas. Wal-Mart...$37. Look for a DVD player that has the DivX logo on the front. The movies will often look small, however, and you can only watch them on compatible DVD players, so you may still wish to convert your movies...if so, understand this:

Original DVD videos (and backups) will always be higher quality than anything you download. The files that you download have probably already been converted once, losing some quality, and further conversion will cause further loss of quality.

If you are going to convert movies to DVD,

1. Make sure they are high quality (not too blocky, fluid motion, good audio)

2. Use good media (Verbatim, Taiyo-Yuden, Hitachi-Maxell)

3. Burn at low speeds (8x if the media supports 16x)

4. See what discs your DVD player supports (DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW)

Good Luck

Thank you muhctekdano,
As a matter of fact i bought a dvd player on Ebay last year playing all the format that you suggested. I followed one of the links suggested by LOTR (divfix)and the program actually found that the file wasn't an AVI format even thou it showed AVI format when i downloaded it. So i guess it's all in the fun of downloading one never knows how it's going to turn out. I bought a rewriteable media so now i can burn and erase the media with out wasting dvd's. My dvd player is a pioneer double layer + - support. How can i tell if they are of high quality (not too blocky, fluid motion, good audio)before i download it? Sorry another question for you!!
Thank you for the quick reply and help from the forum.
All the best

Check the files with Bitzi, it's the best way to know if they are genuine or not...
Right click on file selected
Advanced
look file up with Bitzi....

I did!! it looked to be ok to me, and the file showed AVI file. Maybe i am missing something to look for in Bitzi.

Hmmm, how many ratings did it have ?? usually if a file has 2 or more their pretty well on the ball with what they say about it...Try another one of the free fixers and see what that says about it...

BTW...you could also just try burning without converting if your dvd player is compatible with the download...
