OK, when I type 192.168.0.1 a list pops up in IE 7.0, asking me if I want to PING it. There is a whole list with that string of numbers. Then, I decided to type in http://192.168.0.1 and it said that IE cannot find the page, but I ran a connectivity check, nd everything seems ok. I do run SpySweeper, but LimeWire is supposed to be protected, I have no idea what being able to "telnet into your connection device" means. And for the zillionth time - I can connect to LimeWire, It says turbo-charged connection. I can search for as many files as I want to - BUT - it does NOT ALLOW ME to upload or download any!! 0 kbs upload and 0kbs download!! I was able to download one single James Brown tune while I was downloading that scene fromt he magnet site. One tune, and it cut me off. Now it's - Zero. Zilch. Nada. ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you feeling my pain?? I have downloaded LimeWire Pro, and can search, but cannot download, and no one can upload from me, even though I have FIVE blue BARS; a turbo-charged connection; permission from both SpySweeper and McAfee Firewall!!! Can you hear me now? Is this thing on?? |

That port test page is apparently down. That's why I was confused. If you're using McAffee Firewall then I presume you disabled XP's firewall right? If not, do so. Running 2 software firewalls at one time can cause side effects & actually results in less security not more. Make a note of any important settings you have in Tools>Options, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Upon re-opening LW, under Tools>Options Tools>Options>Saving: days to keep incomplete files = 999 Tools>Options>Downloads: Make sure Maximum Downloads is set to a largish number such as 10 Clear completed downloads. Uploads do the same. Also allow at least a couple of slots for uploads & at least one per person. Enable Chat. Status Bar: Show all. Filters>Content: Disable this option (uncheck). Junk: Display junk at bottom of search results. Keywords: there's many you can add here. But here's some to start with - .exe .jpg .wma .wmv .wm www. Oh ... & set your connection to T3. Be aware of this Beware of Fake files in search results Oberon89 I see you're using a UK ISP. Many UK ISP's shape p2p sharing bandwidth. Try the magnet link above & see what speeds you get. Also see ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire & see if your ISP is listed. And give us some feedback who your ISP is. System details - help us to help you (click on link) |

I have got somewhere...... OK I now know what has been going on our ISP Restricts P2P even on our business line ! apparently p2p is not a business application and so we are not allowed to use it !!!!! This restriction entails data packet analysis which sounds like we watch everything and chock it if it seems to be p2p ?? I wonder if this is why file sharing, and other application may not be working well p2p could be the new "Broadcast medium" so I'm a bit confused as to why p2p is not "busines" related. We have a Business Max package and a 1:1 contention on our line but apparently the policy is part of our ISP's fair use policy so that other users bandwidth is not restricted ??? My question is what other users ???? Could this explain slow line speed ??? Does anyone else know of a business conection where serviuces are restricted ?? please keep in mind we pay over £50 a month for our line. I think I am being taken for a ride but will see what they say before I blow the whistle on them, I have asked for an unrestricted line as one would expect from a business Max package with 1:1 contention...... I'll keep you all posted...... |

Oberon89, Don't know if you've read the BT Fair Use Policy... http://www.btbroadbandoffice.com/products/fairusepolicy ...but have you tried using LW outside of 'peak times'? You might find that things pick up a bit for you then? Sorry if you've already tried that |
