What do I do if someone is uploading from me and...
 

If someone is uploading songs from me what am I suppose to do after I have waited for hours for others to stop uploading? Just when I think everyone is finished some others come on to upload. And I just can't switch them off especially when some of the other uploads are not yet completed. I often leave my computer on 19-24 hours at a time so I won't cut anyone off like a few do to me. :( I realize I have no obligation to keep my PC on that long but sheesh...you just can't cut someone off in the middle of an upload. I wish there was a way to get a message to those when they are uploading, especially when I need to restart. Like ,"Hey guys, I Need to reboot. Hold on, I'll be right back." :)

I think my ISP is getting a bad message because one tech asked me if I shut down at night. He then informed I was suppose to or maybe he said it was reccomended that I do. Maybe...but since I am paying for 24/7 I leave it on as long as I need/want to.
Anyway, this is my concern. Any ideas from anyone?

What I do is, when I want to close I go to options,uploads,slots and put total uploads to 0, and press apply, the one's that are active will continue till finnished but no more will start. Dont forget to put it back after though,or you may get seen as a freeloader.

Try this:

1. right-click on LW in the system tray
2. select 'exit after transfers'

I believe LW will not initiate any new uploads this way, but will allow your current uploads to finish.

BTW, I wouldn't worry so much about others...sometimes you have to reboot, etc.! If people are paying attention to their downloads, they will restart them if they stop. Sometimes it takes me days to get a file I want, but who am I to complain if I am getting a file for free while sitting on my butt? I do get frustrated, however, when I download 50% of a file, and for the life of me cannot DL the rest of it, even though I try for days on end. The file most likely is not being shared any longer. Oh well. It sounds like you share more than your share ha ha...

The way LW says to do it is:

options...uploads...system tray...shutdown after transfers

If only it worked, (Well not for me) I tryed it, left 3 uploading, came back after one hour and I had 6 up, none of witch were original. If you witness it
working tell me. i would like to use it.

Sorry...just assumed it would work, but I suppose if your uploads/downloads never stop, it won't shutdown...:rolleyes:

Look at chat, The bigest wepon against spamers, and they wont or cant fix it
If you have CHAT you can inform people! (You Have Virus Files in your library
Delete Them) or check them with AV. Makes me think, 6 months and no progress, Your a tek, arnt there many open sorse little chat Programs out there. Cant they BIN theres and get one that works, if they realy wanted to.
Im not a TEK, please! explane if you can, why.

Nope, I won't forget to change it back. I've got so much music off of LW that is much appreciated and I spend hours every night listening to it. So I wouldn't want to shortchange others.

That's a good way to get yourself blocked by a no. of hosts. They'll think you're a fake file spammer.

Personally I leave my machine on for 3-5+ days at a time so with such long sessions I believe everyone has a decent chance to finish their files & besides, I'm never offline for long. So I set my LW for immediate shutdown. They can pick up any incomplete downlds a day or 2 later & complete them.

So I guess it depends upon your personal habits of how long you spend online.

As for Chat ... LW are aware of this issue & I suspect it will be fixed by the next release.

As for getting stuck with files at 50%, remember not everybody is online everyday. Some are weekenders, some a day or 2 every couple of weeks. And some are just difficult to reconnect to. With any luck there's others out there with the same files.

Sorry mickjapa108 I'm not rubbishing or arguing with you. And no I'm not guessing about what I've said. I'm also involved at the LW beta forums & also have contact with some of the LW devs, etc. They said they would fix the chat. But they didn't become aware of it until the beta was released.

And what I said about the slots set to zero ... another member wondered whether that's what those that offer the fake files do ... put these files up for share but have zero upload slots. This person put in a request in regards about this issue ... & you can find it in the Feature Requests section. And btw a lot of people do block the ip's of such results they find. So I was trying to warn you of possible consequences ... not rubbish your suggestion. ;) :)
