Download File Types

Alright, well now after christmas there are four different people in my family using Limewire and on 4 different Microsoft XP Home addition accounts. Everything was going fine before the last two members of my family got their Limewire and downloaded it off the limewire site. But now on all of our names and each of our Limewire's every time we search for a song it comes up as a WMP (windows media player) type of item. It's still an MP3 type but its the WMP little icon next too the song name. And when i transfer my completed download to itunes it goes in fine and when i plug in my ipod and it says updating....ipod update is complete or whatever it says, i think "alright then it worked i guess" so i take out my brothers ipod shuffle off the little USB adapter, put the headphones in and try to play a song that i just put on but i cant get any song to play. And none would play after fooling aroudn with it for a couple minutes. So i believe that the songs not playing has to deal with the songs now having the WMP icon next to it instead of the normal icon with the little note or whatever it is. So can someone help me out and tell me how to get my songs back to normal?

You shouldn't download limewire for each seperate account, you should just create shortcuts from the one account...This thread will explain what you should do...

With the WMP icon showing for all you mp3s, that just means that you have WMP as your default media player to change that follow these steps...
Right click on a file in you shared folder (outside of limewire)
Select open with
select choose program
select the player you want
and tick the box that says always use this program for this file type...

Hopefully after you fix up the LW installs, your itunes should transfere the songs over successfully....:rolleyes_2:

alright well i did exactly what ur instructions said, and i got itunes selected as the one i always want to use. But when i go back to limewire and search for a song, the WMP icon is still there. I don't know if i have to remove WMP from the recommended or if i need to choose a different program, but it's still not working, help plz?

Did you fix up the LW installations, as it sounds like one of the other users are using WMP as their default player....

Are you the system's admin ?? if so yes, make sure you uninstall the others by using the limewire unistaller, don't do it through add/remove programs....
