Slow Download Speed Just a little info for those of you with slow download speeds. I have been a limewire user for a couple of years, and have loved it. However, as soon as I upgraded to PRO, my download speed dropped to a crawl. Nothing else changed on my PC. I tried all sorts of things that were recommended in this forum, but nothing worked. I had resigned myself to the possibility that my ISP was shaping bandwidth, as suggested over and over in the forum (Even though my ISP denied any such shaping). Then, I happened to see a thread about FROSTWIRE. I downloaded and installed it, and BAM, my download speed is back to where it was (100+ KBPS). This leads me to believe that something is wrong with Limewire Pro, and that all this talk of 'Bandwidth Shaping' as a cause of slow downloads is really just an excuse for a faulty program. To those of you out there still suffering through slow downloads, try Frostwire. It worked for me. On that note, I am now going to uninstall Limewire Pro. Good Luck Everyone |
I'm definitely being "shaped"! Before midnight I can't download faster than 50KB/s or so; however, on the stroke of midnight LW is flying along at +/-230KB/s... I don't know whether there is a blanket ceiling or a trigger point because it only became noticable after I had tuned-up LW (via this forum) and was getting some decent download speeds. |
