Download problems... Can anybody out there help me?! This problem started on Monday... When using Limewire I type the artist and title of the song I wish to download and click 'search'. I get many results like I always have done, but when I click to download a song it simply says 'Connecting...' in the status column. Progress remains at 0% and there is no speed or time. Occasionally the download starts OK, but then it will just stop usually within the first 20% of progress. After about 5 minutes of absolutely nothing, the status column then says 'Need More Sources'. It happens all of the time. My computer is about 2 weeks old and the only thing I have done differently in the last few days is download the new version of Internet Explorer. If you can help me, I will be eternally grateful. Tripod1 |
When you get the "need more sources" message on a file that appears to heaps of hosts it means it's a fake file... Fake files in search results When you have connected to a host and are actually downloading a file and you then get the message, it could mean that the host has gone offline, try right clicking on the file and select find hosts...:rolleyes_2: |
The best thing to do when clicking to d/load is check that the song has a bitrate of 128 or above, as a lot of search results lately have no bitrate listed they are usually fake files, you can filter out fakes by right clicking on them and blocking, you will be asked for confirmation that you wish to block isp ..(number).. keep a seperate note of this isp and you will probably find that the same isp shows up time and time again. Also the first half dozen results in any given search (especially for hard to find files) will be items that are not related to the item you want, block these also and all will be fine. |
Thanks both of you for your help - it's working fine now. Tripod1 |
Don't go too wild blocking hosts...AFAIK you cannot unblock the hosts after you block them :yikes: (unless maybe you reinstall Limewire). Good Luck  Dano |
Yep tripod, as muhctek says, but then I did say take a note of who you block (isp numbers) and don't go TO mad or you may have no hosts for your genuine files!!! |
