Default Limewire working perfectly - now not at all !!

Ive had limewire now for months and have downloaded files no problem - however for the last few weeks I have been unable to download anything!! I only have one connection bar showing in the bottom left corner . I am running version 4.12.8 on windows xp, with tiscali , on broadband from home Windows firewall is enabled to allow limewire I have plenty of memory , have not recently installed any new hardware . I am totally at a loss at how it can run fine for months then now go kaput when nothing has changed!!! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Lots of people are having problems with Tiscali all of a sudden. If you use the forum search to look for Tiscali, you'll find heaps of threads.

First of all, try changing ports...that fixed the prob for 1 lucky person
In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to one in the range of 49152 - 65535 (say 64049) > apply. Any ports forwarded thru a router must be the same number as LW's listening port!

Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of the blue globe) & if so, has it always been there?
What's the brand & model of your router? Are you using it with UPnP enabled, ports forwarded or neither?

AFAIK that modem doesn't have an internal firewall. Do you connect to a router as well?

Hiya ,no I just use that modem - I tried what you said and it didnt work just got this message : Limewire is currently conecting to the network.your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network .
Any other ideas or is it a case of changing from tiscali ? Which Id rather not do as all my email addresses are with them .
Thanks Paul

You can do what I did with Tiscalli, when I switched to BT I lost my Tiscali emails, but, after a month or so I went and opened a Tiscali email account, this is free and gives you back your email address, but the only dis-advantage is you cannot use your existing Tiscali email address for about a month

I'm having the same prob.....
I really neeed your help but the prob is that your solutions are aimed at ppl who know what they're doing with their computers, unlike me who's computer illiterate!!!
I have abs no idea abt some of the stuff u go on abt but have opened LW today to no avail!! No connection! I've always had Windows firewall up as this is the on;y one I use so I've disabled it for now to see if it will help. Is this safe? It's never been a prob...
Pls help as u know ur stuff but I'm stuck! Is it Tiscali or me?
What does 'TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts'????
I really HATE all this jargon that I dont understand!!!
I know I sound dumb, sorry.....

chow_chow, can you please start a new thread? You have more chance of your question being answered if your thread is separated from others, plus it gets very confusing when two or more start asking questions in other OP's threads.
Thanks

Default Limewire - Tiscali

Ive just noticed that when the few times I can get limewire to connect and download, that the brick is NOT in front of the wall - all other times (when it won't work ) the brick is there . Am I right in assuming this has nothing to do with tiscali and is "something " else stopping me downloading ?
